LivestockIQ Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 August 2026
1. Who we are
LivestockIQ is a livestock management platform operated by Blackston Coopers Consulting Ltd (company number 11675852), whose registered office is at 20 Carding Way, Kempston, Bedford, United Kingdom, MK42 7JZ (referred to in this policy as “LivestockIQ”, “we”, “us” or “our”).
For the personal information we collect for our own business purposes—such as managing user accounts, enquiries, demonstrations, trials, subscriptions and our website—Blackston Coopers Consulting Ltd is the data controller.
Where a farm or other customer enters personal information about its staff, contractors, suppliers, customers or other individuals into LivestockIQ, that customer will normally be the data controller and we will act as its data processor. In those circumstances, questions about that information should usually be directed to the customer that entered it.
You can contact us about this policy or your personal information at:

2. What this policy covers

Animal and farm records are not normally personal information. However, they may become personal information where they are linked to an identifiable person—for example, where a record identifies the employee who carried out a treatment or farm task.
3. Personal information we collect
Depending on how you use LivestockIQ, we may collect the following categories of personal information.

Customer content, including farm records and any names, notes, task assignments or other personal information that you choose to enter into the platform.
Please do not enter personal information into LivestockIQ unless it is relevant to using and administering the service.

We use cookies and similar technologies as described in section 10 and in our Cookie Policy at https://www.livestockiq.co.uk/cookie-policy.

If we receive your personal information from another source, we will provide the required privacy information within the period required by law.
4. How and why we use personal information
UK data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use of personal information. We use personal information as follows:
| Purpose | Typical information used | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Create accounts and provide the LivestockIQ service | Identity, contact, account, customer content and usage information | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests where the contract is with your organisation |
| Arrange demonstrations, trials and respond to enquiries | Identity, contact, enquiry and communications information | Steps before entering a contract; legitimate interests in responding to business enquiries |
| Administer subscriptions, invoices and payments | Identity, contact, commercial and transaction information | Performance of a contract; legal obligation; legitimate interests in managing our business |
| Provide support, training and service communications | Account, contact, usage and communications information | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests in supporting users and operating the service |
| Secure, maintain and improve our website and application | Account, device, usage, security, error and diagnostic information | Legitimate interests in providing a secure, reliable and effective service; consent where required for non-essential cookies or similar technologies |
| Prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents | Account, device, usage, communications and security information | Legitimate interests in protecting our users, service and business; legal obligation where applicable |
| Keep financial, corporate and compliance records | Identity, contact, commercial, transaction and communications information | Legal obligation; legitimate interests in establishing and defending legal rights |
| Send product news, offers or other direct marketing | Identity, contact, enquiry and marketing preference information | Consent where required; otherwise legitimate interests where permitted by law |
| Develop statistics and business insights | Usage and customer information that is aggregated or anonymised where reasonably possible | Legitimate interests in understanding and improving our service |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider whether our interests are proportionate and whether your rights and reasonable expectations outweigh them.
We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without a valid legal basis and, where required, providing further notice.
5. Direct marketing
We may send you relevant information about LivestockIQ where you have consented or where the law otherwise permits us to do so. You can opt out at any time by:
using the unsubscribe option in a marketing email; or
emailing sales@livestockiq.co.uk.
Opting out of marketing will not stop essential account, security, billing or service messages.
You have the right to object at any time to our use of your personal information for direct marketing.
6. How we share personal information
We may share personal information only where necessary with:
the organisation that owns or administers your LivestockIQ account and its authorised users;
hosting, database, cloud infrastructure, IT support, security and software service providers;
website, analytics, customer support, email, video-meeting and scheduling providers;
accountants, insurers and professional advisers;
government bodies, regulators, courts, law-enforcement authorities or other parties where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights; and
a buyer, investor or successor in connection with a proposed or completed sale, merger, financing, restructuring or transfer of all or part of our business, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data protection safeguards.
Our service providers may use personal information only for the services they provide to us and must protect it appropriately. We do not sell personal information.
7. International transfers
Some of our service providers or their support teams may process personal information outside the United Kingdom.
Where this involves a restricted transfer, we use a lawful transfer mechanism, such as UK adequacy regulations or appropriate safeguards approved under UK data protection law. Where appropriate safeguards are used, we also carry out any required transfer risk assessment or data protection test. You may contact us for more information about the safeguards relevant to your personal information.
8. How long we keep personal information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected. When deciding how long to keep information, we consider:
the nature and sensitivity of the information;
whether it is needed to provide or secure LivestockIQ;
the length and nature of our relationship with you or your organisation;
legal, tax, accounting and regulatory requirements; and
whether it may be needed to resolve a complaint, dispute or legal claim.
Account information and customer content are normally retained for the duration of the customer relationship and for a limited period afterwards to close the account, allow any agreed export, complete backup rotation and resolve outstanding matters.
Contracts, invoices and related financial records are normally retained for up to six years where required for tax, accounting or legal purposes. Marketing information is retained until you opt out or it is no longer current, although we may keep a minimal suppression record so that we can respect your opt-out.
We may retain information for longer where required by law, necessary to establish or defend legal claims, or agreed with a customer acting as controller. Information that has been securely anonymised may be retained for statistical or service-improvement purposes because it no longer identifies an individual.
9. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful loss, alteration, disclosure, access or destruction. These measures include access controls, authentication, encryption where appropriate, monitoring, backups and restrictions on staff and service-provider access.
No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential, using a strong and unique password, restricting user access appropriately and notifying us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
10. Cookies and similar technologies
Our website and application may use:
strictly necessary technologies for login, security, session management, load balancing and remembering privacy choices;
functional technologies to remember settings and improve features;
analytics technologies to understand how visitors and users interact with our services; and
advertising or attribution technologies, where enabled, to measure campaigns or provide relevant advertising.
We do not require consent for technologies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you request. Where consent is legally required for other technologies, we will ask for it before using them. You can accept, reject or change your choices through our cookie controls. You may also change browser settings, although blocking necessary technologies may prevent parts of LivestockIQ from working.
Further details, including the names, providers, purposes and lifetimes of technologies in use, are available in our Cookie Policy at https://www.livestockiq.co.uk/cookie-policy.
11. Your data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
be informed about how your personal information is used;
request access to your personal information;
ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
ask us to erase your personal information;
ask us to restrict how we use your personal information;
object to processing based on legitimate interests and to direct marketing;
receive certain information in a portable, machine-readable format;
withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent; and
complain to a data protection regulator.
These rights are not absolute and may depend on the lawful basis and circumstances of the processing. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Where we process information solely on behalf of a farm or other customer, we may refer your request to that customer or assist it in responding.
To exercise a right, email sales@livestockiq.co.uk. You will not normally have to pay a fee. We aim to respond within one month, although the law permits more time for complex or numerous requests.
12. Complaints
Please contact us first if you have a concern so that we can try to resolve it.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection. Information about making a complaint is available at https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/. You may also have the right to contact the supervisory authority in the country where you live or work.
13. Children
LivestockIQ is intended for use by businesses and adult users. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the service. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us.
14. Automated decision-making
We do not currently use personal information to make solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects on individuals. LivestockIQ may generate reminders, reports, forecasts or operational insights concerning livestock and farm activity, but customers remain responsible for decisions made using the service.
15. Third-party links and services
Our website or application may contain links to third-party websites, videos or services. Those organisations are responsible for their own privacy practices. We recommend reading their privacy notices before providing personal information.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, suppliers or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated version on our website and change the “Last updated” date above. Where a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
